Monthly General Meeting:

WEDNESDAY 21 March 2018 at 10 a.m.

The Talk for the February Meeting....

“The Great Eugowra Gold Escort Robbery” and the Speaker was  John Donohoe.
As the title suggests this took place on 15th June 1862 with the gold escort coach leaving Forbes for its weekly run to Bathurst and on to Sydney.  This was quite a daring robbery with John’s talk describing the events that took place on that day.  The consequences of this robbery resulted in the authorities tightening security arrangements to minimise the risk of bushrangers attacking the gold stage coach. A fascinating story of our early Australian history and the notorious bushrangers.

“Understanding the NBN”
The Speaker was our own member, Lynton Bradford.
Lynton’s talk covered how to select an NBN plan, understanding what speed you need.  What are the problems?  How does it work?  This talk drew a record attendance at the Meeting and was well received with the members asking many questions at the conclusion of the talk.

 Our Christmas End-of-Year Celebration

There was no General Meeting this month. Instead we  celebrated our end of year with our Christmas Luncheon  in the  Ron Mathews Room.  It was a very happy occasion where  we  enjoyed great food brought along by our members, together  with the opportunity of renewing friendships, all in the spirit of  the  Christmas season.  Our thanks go to the ladies who came  early to set up the tables and stayed later to clear up, along  with other helpers.  A great conclusion to our year!!
